Product Engineer

Education and experience :

● Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics, or a related field.
● Proven experience in hardware product development, including prototyping, testing, and design validation.
● Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD).
● Hands-on experience with 3D printers, mechanical tools, and rapid prototyping techniques.
● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with startups, stakeholders, and external partners.
● A proactive and adaptable mindset with the ability to support multiple startups simultaneously.
● Proficiency in operating 3D printers, CNC machines, and IoT development tools.
● Knowledge of PCB designing and hardware integration is a plus.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities :

Role: Product Engineer – Hardware Innovation & Startup Support

 

Product Development & Prototyping:
● Assist startups in brainstorming and conceptualizing innovative hardware products.
● Develop Proof of Concepts (POC) and create functional prototypes.
● Conduct extensive prototype testing, including stress testing and failure analysis.
● Oversee the transition of prototypes into market-ready products.

 

Lab & Equipment Management:
● Manage and operate three advanced labs:
○ 3D Lab – Equipped with 3D printers and modeling software to support design and rapid prototyping.
○ Smart Lab – Housing IoT components, PCB prototyping tools, and testing machines for electronic hardware.
○ Mechanical Lab – Featuring CNC lathe, milling, laser cutting, and conventional machinery for precision fabrication.
● Maintain lab equipment and ensure seamless operations for startup needs.

Technical Expertise & Support:
● Provide hands-on guidance to startups in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and IoT integration.
● Assist in troubleshooting hardware issues and optimizing product performance.
● Ensure compliance with best practices in prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.

Ecosystem & Startup Support:

● Act as a bridge between startups and key stakeholders, including industry partners, delegates, and investors.
● Provide guidance on office legal matters, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
● Foster collaborations with local ecosystems for startup expansion and strategic growth.
Startup Engagement & Ecosystem Support:
● Provide daily operational and technical support to startups, ensuring smooth workflow and addressing challenges effectively.
● Facilitate connections between startups and relevant stakeholders, including industry experts, government bodies, investors, and corporate partners.
● Assist startups with office, legal, and administrative support to streamline their business operations.
● Engage with local and global ecosystem players to foster collaboration, networking, and potential expansion opportunities for startups.

 

Collaboration & Innovation:
● Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and business development, to transform innovative ideas into scalable products.
● Contribute to the growth of the incubator’s innovation ecosystem by organizing workshops, technical sessions, and mentorship programs.
● Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in hardware product development.

Key Competency And Skills:

● Prior experience in a startup incubator or hardware innovation ecosystem.
● Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management.
● Familiarity with DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles.
● Understanding of electronic components and integration in hardware product development.
